Plans for many university and research institute projects in Guangzhou's Huangpu district have recently progressed.
The Guangzhou Development District Administrative Committee signed a cooperation agreement with the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences on March 31 to jointly build a research institute.
The institute will begin enrollment this year and the number of its postgraduate students will reach 600 by 2025. In addition to talent cultivation, its prospective research areas will include national cultural and social governance strategies, the Belt and Road Initiative and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
The Huangpu research institutes of Guangzhou University and Guangdong University of Foreign Studies in China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City are listed as key projects to be advanced in 2021.

The Guangzhou University facility will focus on discipline development, talent cultivation and scientific and technological innovation in computer science and technology, cyberspace security, artificial intelligence and blockchains, information and communication engineering, smart transport and intelligent engineering.
Meanwhile, the research institutes of Guangdong University of Foreign Studies will bring in high-quality international educational resources and give full play to their advantages in foreign languages.
Construction of the Huangpu University is included in the Huangpu's 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) for National Economic and Social Development and its "Vision 2035", which was reviewed and approved during the seventh session of the 1st Huangpu District Congress of Party Representatives on Jan 22.
Covering around 300 mu in CSGKC, the university will feature total floorage of 780,000 square meters for teaching, offices, experiment areas, a library and a training center.
